03/09/2008

Tony Dorsey has picked up his second award in a matter of days after being named as the Molten Player of the Month for February, adding to the BBL Trophy winners' medal that he picked up as the Guildford Heat beat the Newcastle Eagles 86-79 on Sunday.

The five-time BBL All-Star, who picked up his seventh piece of silverware at the weekend and has twice been BBL Player of the Season, averaged a massive 20.9 points, 9.1 rebounds, and 3.4 assists during February. The 37-year-old posted four double-doubles in the seven games that he played, the most notable of which was 26 points and 12 rebounds in the 110-97 win against the Jelson Homes DMU Leicester Riders at The Spectrum on 20th February.

Dorsey and the Heat went 6-1 during the month as they continued their BBL Championship title challenge. He also had 28 points, 6 rebounds, and 6 assists against title rivals the Marshall MK Lions, and 26 points, 11 rebounds, and 7 assists when the Heat travelled to the Everton Tigers on 8th February.

Dorsey, who has more career points (5,512) in the BBL Championship than any other current player, now looks forward to another big month, starting with a trip to the PAWS London Capital on Saturday (7.30pm tip-off). Later on in March, the Heat host the Newcastle Eagles in a huge top-of-the-table clash on Sunday 23rd March.
