NEW Jersey Nets superstar Richard Jefferson has admitted he cannot wait to play in England later this year. Ian Whittell explains why.

NEW Jersey Nets superstar Richard Jefferson has admitted he cannot wait to play in England later this year - so he can watch Everton in action!

Jefferson is close friends with Tim Howard from the American keeper's time with the New York-New Jersey Metrostars.

But clashing schedules have meant that the 6'7" Nets forward has never seen his close pal play a football game.

Now New Jersey are heading to London's O2 Arena in October to take on the Miami Heat in a pre-season friendly and Jefferson admits he hopes to combine the visit with a trip to Goodison.

Jefferson said: "Tim and I are good friends and I actually was planning on going to London this summer earlier just on my own to see him.

"Luckily I found out that the team had planned a trip over there for the pre season, so I'm excited.

"I've never been able to see him play though I know they play in front of so many thousands and thousands of fans. That's the thing I'm looking forward to seeing most, those crowds.

"Hopefully we'll be able to be over there when they're playing and catch a game."

Jefferson, 27, has travelled all over Europe without ever visiting England and admits that talk of the NBA expanding their league with a Euro division is exciting.

The US international added: "I do a lot of travelling and, with the Olympics, I've been to so many different places.

"London is one of the major cities I've never been to but with Tim and the easy transition with the language and culture, it's not difficult.

"If London gets an NBA team you can put me down for a place on the team as soon as my contract is over with the Nets!"
