A.I. TO WEAR NUMBER 1
11/05/2008

After wearing the number 3 on his jersey since his days at Georgetown, Allen Iverson is to rock number one at the Detroit Pistons.

This isn't because Rodney Stuckey (Detroit's current number 3) was being stubborn...he'd said he'd defer to the vet and let him have it.

It's because the NBA says so. Yesterday the League notified the Pistons that Stuckey can't change his number this season owing to licensing and merchandizing reasons, both in Detroit and in Denver with A.I.'s Nuggets gear.

Meanwhile, Iverson has been speaking about his arrival in Motorcity.

"I've done so many things in this league, as far as being an All-Star and scoring champion and first-team all-NBA, things like that," he said. "But I haven't accomplished my No. 1 goal, and that's to win a championship. I'm willing to sacrifice whatever I have to sacrifice to get it done. I've tried it my way plenty of times. I've tried it many ways, and it hasn't been done."
