Scottish Rocks playcaller Sterling Davis has warned his BBL rivals to beware surprise package Leicester after tipping the Riders to make waves this season.

The East Midlanders ended Rocks' 4-0 record in Glasgow last weekend to send shockwaves through UK hoops.

And Davis is convinced Rob Paternostro's fast-improving Riders can dent some of the British game's biggest reputations this season.

"People might look at Leicester's name and think it's going to be the same old story for them," he said.

"But I've seen them up close this season and I can tell you that names mean nothing.

"They're still the Riders but they're a whole new roster with a whole new attitude and the BBL better watch out.

"Rob has done a great job with them and they mean business."

Leicester take on reigning champs Newcastle on Tyneside this Friday and another win in the Eagles' nest would seriously upset the BBL's traditional order.

It is years since the Riders were capable of contesting the game's top honours and the franchise almost went bust in 2007.

"Newcastle still set the benchmark for everyone else so it will be interesting to see how Leicester match up this weekend," added Davis.

"I'd like to think we can be up there with the best of them this season. But after five games I can't say with any confidence how we'll get on this season."
