LUOL IN 'MIRACLE' RECOVERY
03/02/2009

LUOL Deng could be playing for the Chicago Bulls tomorrow after making a miracle recovery from a "broken" leg.

The Great Britain superstar limped out of Saturday's win over the Houston Rockets with the leg injury and declared he could be out for the season.

Chicago reported that a post-match x-ray had shown a stress fracture in Deng's tibia and that news immediately cast a cloud over the 6'9" forward playing for GB in the European Championship Finals in Poland in September.

But a detailed MRI scan on Sunday night showed that there is no fracture and Deng's status was described as "day to day" with the possibility of the Londoner even playing in tomorrow's visit to the Charlotte Bobcats.

Deng has been troubled by what is now believed to be a badly bruised muscle, however, and will receive treatment before being thrown back into Chicago's bid to make the play-offs.

Talking after Saturday's game Deng explained: ''It's been bothering me maybe three or four weeks.

''I thought it was just a sprain. I had a play in the first half where I jumped up, and I felt it. I'm not in pain.

"When I'm walking, when I get on my toes or I'm jumping, I feel it in there a little bit. I thought it was just a bruise, but it stayed there."
