AINGE RECOVERING AFTER HEART ATTACK
04/20/2009
Boston Celtics legend - and current GM, Danny Ainge - has left hospital after suffering a heart attack.
The two-time NBA champ was released on Sunday - but doctors advised him not to watch the defending champions play against Chicago in the opening game of their first-round play-off tie.
Just as well - Chicago ended up winning the game in overtime, 105-103!
The 50 year old woke up with chest pains on Thursday morning and checked into the hospital.
Boston coach Doc Rivers revealed over the weekend that he had found out about Ainge almost immediately after discovering team star Kevin Garnett was unlikely to take part in the play-offs due to the knee injury that has sidelined him in recent weeks.
"He's (Ainge) a lot better, and that's great news," Rivers said to the Boston Globe.
"For an hour and a half [Thursday] it wasn't a lot of fun around here. The Danny thing clearly puts the Kevin thing, for me, in perspective.
"But [Ainge] is doing much better and he just needs rest - from me and everyone else. It scared the heck out of me. We made the Kevin decision and literally within 10 minutes the next thing follows.
"When someone calls you and tells you a guy had a heart attack, it scares the hell out of you."
