GORDON PUTS HIS HAND UP FOR DETROIT
07/02/2009

BEN Gordon has agreed a £160,000 a week move to the Detroit Pistons and that could pave the way for his Great Britain debut this summer.

The free-scoring guard has quit the Chicago Bulls for a five-year, £40 million contract with the Pistons.

Gordon, who was born in Hammersmith, has stated he would play for GB in the European Finals in September if his contract situation was resolved.

And when the NBA's transfer opened on Wednesday, it took Gordon only a matter of hours to agree the switch to Detroit.

The addition of Gordon to Chris Finch's squad would be a major boost for the Brits after star forward Luol Deng revealed last week he is almost certain to miss the Euros through injury.

Ian Whittell for 24/7.
